Internships
An internship is required in most of the AAS programs at Highline and sometimes can be applied as electives in the AA degree. This can be one of the most valuable courses in which students enroll. It is an excellent opportunity to gain professional experience, develop contacts and network, and enhance a resume. Internships may lead to employment opportunities.
Highline has created a unique program for qualified applicants to gain work experience at the college Public Safety Department. This program places the participant in working situations that range from administrative duties associated with parking permits to patrolling the campus with a full time officer. To get more information contact your faculty adviser.
We are also regularly approached by area employers who are eager to have our students intern or work permanently at their organizations.
Students interested in jobs as law enforcement officers should know that convictions in domestic violence, felony, or misdemeanors would disqualify them from employment. Any law enforcement officer job applicant undergoes a background investigation and a screening process.
